Go See the Beauty of Dutch Flower Fields

Dutch Flower fields
At the weekend we decided to take a drive over to the Dutch flower fields near Lisse in the Noord-Holland province. It’s a sight that even after fifteen years never fails to instil awe. The flower fields are beautiful. Truly mesmerising. If you haven’t yet visited the fields in full bloom, put it on your travel bucket list. True to Dutch spring form we had to dodge the showers, but when the sun made an appearance it was well worth the wait.

And if you look closely, there’s even a motivational message direct from the heart of the flower fields:

Dare to be different and stick out in a crowd!

Finding the Dutch Flower Fields

The area where you can find the flower fields is called the Bollenstreek and the area is worth visiting from mid-March to early May. The different flowers bloom at different times so multiple visits in one season will give you different views. You can find out more about the where and the what of seeing the Dutch flower fields here. The world’s biggest flower field is here in the Netherlands, in Kop van Noord-Holland.

The Keukenhof

And of course, there’s the Keukenhof, which you should definitely have seen at least once. The gardeners plant millions of flower bulbs annually at the Keukenhof and it is a truly spectacular sight. But beware it gets incredibly busy, particularly around Easter!
